Implementing and Supporting Linux

Program Overview

Linux, is a powerful multi-user, multitasking operating system that is fast becoming an industry standard. Linux provides virtual memory and network support, graphical user interface support, a productive software development environment and a rapidly expanding set of end-user applications. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the full range of Linux user services and utilities.

What You Will Learn
  • Navigate the Linux file system, and use directories, links and symbolic links
  • An understanding of Linux tools and utilities
  • Setting up useful common user configurations
  • Using and customizing your Gnome desktop
  • Setting up and administrating user accounts
  • Linux Boot-up and Shutdown sequence
  • Adding software packages using RPM
  • A overview of configuring a Linux system and making it available on a network
Who Should Attend

This course is valuable for systems and network administrators, business analysts, systems planners and integrators, and power users who are interested in configuring and maintaining Linux in today's business. Prior operating experience with UNIX or Windows is helpful. A working knowledge of the Linux VI or VIM editor is required.
